Riding & Racing

I have been riding mountain bikes since the late 1980s and have been fortunate to ride and race across the country for over 15 years. I have done well over 100 mountain bike races, including epic cross-country events like the Dakota Five-Oh (8x), Little Sugar, and Breck Endurance; Big Mountain, Southeast, and Arkansas enduros; and lots of local cross-country and marathon races. My favorite places to ride are Arkansas, Colorado, Utah, the East Coast, and my local trails. I still haven't ridden in the PNW, California, or anywhere outside the USA. I need to change that 😄

Over the past few years, while scaling THOR's work and team, I've kept my competitive and adventurous bike escapades alive, but only just. I broke my tibial plateau riding at Keystone in 2022 (not my first broken bone, but my first on the bike). I have recovered well for a guy in his late 40s, but summers have been busy with community work, and individual consistency has suffered. Thankfully, 2025 was a transitional year toward a better work/life balance, and 2026 is looking even more promising.

In addition to continuing to ride trails and bike parks in more states, I've set my aspirations on tackling either the Trans-Cascadia, Trans-New England, or both sequentially in 2027 and 2028. I love riding new trails and blind racing, and each of these races would give me a chance to do both in some of the most incredible backcountry riding areas in the United States.

I'm approaching 50, and my racing goals aren't simply about podiums or wins, but about challenging myself, sharing my experiences, and, where possible, recreating portions of those experiences in the region where I live and for the larger trail community.

See you on the trails!
